Let's talk about OLAPLEX

Updated: Feb 4, 2021

So, Olaplex...

There is a lot of talk about this amazing product line. A LOT. And so much of it is overly scientific and complicated chemistry, that oftentimes it’s hard to see that it’s actually pretty easy to use the Olaplex system for your hair. Let’s make it simple!

What does Olaplex do?

It repairs damaged hair structure on a molecular level and consists of 2 parts!

Part 1 is in salon treatment - Olaplex No.1 & Olaplex No.2. You don’t have to worry about these at home! Your stylist has you covered.

Part 2 is at home treatment - Olaplex No.0, No.3, No.4, & No.5

There are additional steps and products available for use, but these are the basic and essential steps to take for the best results.

Part One - the treatment that you receive in the salon.

Olaplex No.1 Bond Multiplier. Designed to be added into the color formula. It’s restoring disulfide bonds are used to dramatically reduce hair damage.

Olaplex No.2 Bond Perfector. Used immediately after coloring, and it strengthens and completes the work of Olaplex No.1.

After leaving the salon and being hooked up by your stylist, you’re sent home with No.0, No.3, No.4, & No.5. So what are you doing at home?

Part Two - at home treatment.

Olaplex No.0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment. The newest addition to the system! What does it do, do we have to use it, and can you do without it?

This formula works as a primer and boosts the highest concentration of Olaplex molecules that repair, strengthen, and protect hair integrity. However, it ONLY(!) works when used in combination with No.3!

Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector. Supports the health of hair, giving it strength and shine. Effectively prepares hair for subsequent coloring.

Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo. Repairs, strengthens and hydrates all hair types for every wash use.

Olaplex No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner. Repairs, strengthens and nourishes all hair types for every wash use.

Do I need to add No.0 to my at home system?

We would say yes! Because it enhances the effect of hair treatment at home, equating it in intensity to the salon treatment. With just one extra step, salon quality hair is possible at home!

We will walk you through step by step…

  1. Simply apply No.0 to unwashed dry hair until fully saturated and leave on for 10 minutes. But don’t rinse just yet!

  2. After 10 or so minutes, apply Olaplex No.3 through the hair and leave on for 10 more minutes.

  3. Rinse with warm water.

  4. Wash your hair with shampoo No.4.

  5. Apply conditioner No.5, comb your hair gently, then rinse!

Your full treatment is complete!

How often should you repeat this procedure?

1-2 times a week, depending on the degree of hair damage.

What do we do in between intensive treatments?

No.4 & No.5 - Shampoo & Conditioner! Meant to be used in combination.

We are often asked whether it is possible to skip some steps?

It is possible...BUT the effect of the treatment will not be as effective unfortunately. Because each step has its own tasks which are meant to be used in combination, each product is interconnected and each subsequent step is a continuation of the previous one.
